We’re starting to see some awesome pictures and video of the Claremont/Keddy Access Trail, the multi-use trail that will allow us to cycle between the lower city and the mountain by way of a protected path, separated from the road with a concrete barrier! The trail has been under construction since summer 2020.
In an update in early October, the Ward 8 office shared a few photos of the progress made and on November 10, Daryl Bender, with the city’s Planning and Economic Development department, let Cycle Hamilton know that the trail should be open for use, officially, around the last week of November.
“There is no plan for any Keddy-opening event given the current pandemic. The plan is to communicate the opening to the public through a media release,” said Bender. “We are considering an event to celebrate the facility later next year if the pandemic has subsided.”
Look for updates on the city’s cycling infrastructure page and on Cycle Hamilton social media channels in coming weeks. And when you do start exploring, send pics our way! We can’t wait to get out on the trail ourselves. For more background on the project, visit the city’s backgrounder on its development.
